Move-Out Checklist


We hope you have enjoyed your time with us.
Use this check-list as a guide to ensure a hassle-free move-out and prepare the space for the next occupant. Note that not all items in the list may be applicable to your rental unit, or there may be things not listed, such as a fireplace or garage, that should be included in the cleaning process. For any questions on cleaning your specific unit, please contact Management at 785-766-7479.

Kitchen + Dining Area


  • Move refrigerator away from wall
  • Remove grease and grime off wall behind refrigerator
  • Scrub and mop floor where refrigerator normally stands
  • Clean sides of refrigerator
  • Move refrigerator back in place
  • Defrost freezer and clean
  • Remove and clean all shelves and crispers
  • Clean inside of refrigerator before replacing shelves and crisper


  • Remove grease and grime off wall and cabinet sides around and behind stove
  • Scrub and mop floor where stove normally stands
  • Move stove back into place
  • Remove grease and grime off range hood
  • REPLACE DRIP PANS and clean underneath
  • Clean range top, front and doors
  • Clean thoroughly inside of oven including racks and broiler

Cupboards and Drawers

  • Remove all food/debris particles from all surfaces
  • Wash and rinse all shelves and drawers
  • Clean all cabinet doors and drawer fronts inside and out
  • Clean inside and outside including door edges

Light Fixtures

  • Remove all fixtures, clean, replace burnt out bulbs and put fixtures back in place


  • Wash and rinse
  • Work areas and under sinks
  • Clean under sinks making sure it is debris and grease free


  • Scrub and mop all vinyl floors


  • Remove soap scum and stains from tub, tub fixtures and shower rod
  • Clean and shine wall tile around tub areas
  • Scour sink and soap holder
  • Clean vanity cabinet inside and out, including doors
  • Clean inside and outside of medicine cabinet and cabinet door
  • Clean mirror
  • Disinfect, scrub and remove stains from inside and outside of toilet
  • Clean linen closet/shelves and both sides of the door
  • Remove light fixtures, clean, replace bulbs (if needed) and replace light fixtures
  • Scrub and mop all vinyl or tiled areas

Bedrooms + Hallway + Living Room

  • Clean windowsills, frames, tracks, casings and both sides of glass
  • Clean closet shelves, rods, tracks, casing and both sides of doors 
  • Clean both sides of all doors including casings
  • Vacuum all carpets
  • Wash all baseboards
  • Scrub and mop all vinyl or tiled areas

Carpet Cleaning

Carpets are to be cleaned by a professional carpet cleaner upon move out. As a tenant, you may have the carpets cleaned by a professional and give the Property Manager the receipt as proof of cleaning. Or alternatively, the Property Management will have the carpets professionally cleaned and the expense will be deducted from your security deposit. 

Utilities, Post Office + Key Return

  • Call Management to schedule a Move-Out Inspection
  • Report all Roommates' forwarding addresses and turn in remotes and keys
  • Call all utility companies and notify them of move-out date
  • Make certain all utility payments are current. (You are responsible for all utility payments until keys are returned.)
  • Notify the Post Office at of your change of address
  • If applicable, management will issue a Security Deposit deposition and refund within 30 days of move-out. Any refund check will be made out to all tenants named on the Lease. (It is the tenants' responsibility to work out distribution.)
